Terms of Service — Letra de Casa
Last updated: [FOUNDER TO FILL: effective date]
These Terms are an agreement between you and ALPHA BEAC LTD (אלפא ביק בע"מ), a company registered in Israel (company no. 516875952), the operator of Letra de Casa ("we," "us"). You accept these Terms when you tick "I agree" in the app, or when you buy, try or use the service after being shown a link to them. If you buy through our merchant of record, Polar, its Buyer Terms also apply to the payment (section 5). Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal data.
1. The service
You upload photos of handwritten recipe cards and, if you like, family photos. We deliver a cookbook PDF and a short video. This is a digital product: nothing is shipped.
- AI transcription. We use AI to transcribe the recipes. AI can make mistakes, such as misreading a quantity or an ingredient. We flag words we are unsure about, and you review and approve each recipe before your book is made. The book is made from the text you approve, so please check it carefully, especially for allergens.
- The video. The video adds a slow pan and zoom over your recipe cards and photos. We do not animate faces, generate people, or use face recognition.
- AI voice. The video's narration is a synthetic (AI-generated) voice. It is not a recording of a real person and is not the voice of anyone in your family.
- AI-drafted narration. If you use it, the film's script is drafted by AI from your recipes, notes and the line you give us. We tell it not to invent facts, but you see and can edit the script, and you approve it before the film is made.
- Old recipes and food safety. We transcribe recipes; we don't test them. Old recipes may use methods or ingredients that don't meet today's food-safety advice (for example, home canning or raw eggs). Temperatures and measures we add for old terms (such as "quick oven ≈ 375°F") are estimates. Use your own judgment when cooking.
2. Eligibility
You must be 18 or older and able to enter a binding contract.
3. Your content and permissions
You keep all rights to your uploads. You give us a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, and transform them only to provide the service to you. This license ends when your files are deleted. We do not use your content to train AI models.
By uploading, you confirm that:
- you own the photos or have the right to use them, including photos of other people, and anything a contributor you invite uploads (section 6A);
- to the best of your knowledge, the people shown (or, for people who have died, their close family) would not object;
- if a photo shows someone who is a child today, you are their parent or guardian or have their permission;
- your content is lawful and does not infringe anyone's rights.
You are responsible for your uploads. If you knowingly break these promises and someone brings a claim against us as a result, you agree to cover our reasonable losses from that claim.
4. Acceptable use
Do not upload or create content that is unlawful, sexual, hateful, harassing, violent, or defamatory, or that impersonates someone or deceives others. Do not upload pages from published cookbooks or other material you don't have the right to use. Letra de Casa is for your own family's recipes and photos. Do not use the service to make misleading videos of real people. Letra de Casa does not animate faces, swap faces, generate people or clone voices, and you may not try to use it to do so. Do not try to break, overload, or reverse-engineer the service. We may refuse or remove content that breaks these rules, and we will refund the order unless the violation was clearly deliberate.
Copyright and privacy notices. If you believe something on a Letra de Casa page infringes your copyright or shows you without permission, email support@letradecasa.com. Include the link, what you own or who you are, and how to reach you. We will review it promptly and may disable the page while we do. (US copyright notices: our designated agent is [FOUNDER TO FILL: DMCA agent name and address], registered with the U.S. Copyright Office.)
5. Price and payment
- Price: $29 or $49, depending on the package, plus any applicable taxes, as shown at checkout. You pay when you check out.
- Merchant of record: Payments are processed by Polar Software, Inc. ("Polar"), the seller of record for your purchase. Polar's Buyer Terms also apply to the payment. Your card statement may show Polar.
- This is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. Nothing renews automatically.
6. Delivery
- Right after payment, we email you a link to upload your photos.
- After you upload, we transcribe your recipes and ask you to review and approve them. Your cookbook PDF is ready within minutes of your approval, and your video within 24 hours of your approval. We deliver both by email and download link.
- We can only start once you have uploaded your photos and approved your recipes, so the timing depends on you. During peak holiday periods we show the expected film time in the app; any holiday cutoff we advertise is measured from your approval, not your order.
- Download links expire after 7 days. While your files are stored (section 8), we will send new links on request.
- If something goes wrong and we cannot meet these times, we will tell you promptly. You can then wait or take a full refund. If we cannot deliver at all, we will refund you in full.
6A. Trial, edits, sharing, gifts and contributors
- Free trial. You can try one card before buying, without an account. Trial photos and text are deleted within 24 hours unless you buy and keep the card in your book. Trial results may carry a "SAMPLE" mark.
- Edits and re-renders. While your files are stored, you can edit recipes and re-make your book as often as you like. Each order includes 2 free re-renders of the film after the first; we may grant more on request.
- Watch page and family page. We give you private links (a watch page on every plan; a family page on Family Edition). They are not listed or indexed, but anyone who has the link can view the page, including your photos and recipes. You decide who gets the link. You can add a passcode (family page) and turn a link off at any time. Pages go offline when your files are deleted (section 8). Sharing a link on social media or in a chat app may show a preview image.
- Gifts. If you buy as a gift, you are the customer: refunds go to you. The person you give it to can use the gift link to make the book. Whoever holds that link can add and edit content, so share it only with people you trust. You can cancel a scheduled gift email until it is sent.
- Contributors. You can invite relatives to add recipes with their own links. You are responsible for inviting them. They must follow section 3 and section 4 for what they upload. You can turn off their links at any time.
- Referral credit and discount codes. If we run a referral program, the credit is paid as a partial refund of your order (never more than you paid), after the referred order's refund window. It is for sharing a link, not for writing reviews. Discount codes can't be combined unless we say so and have no cash value.
7. Refunds: 30-day money-back guarantee
- You can ask for a full refund for any reason within 30 days of purchase, or, if your cookbook is first delivered later than that (for example, a gift started in January), within 30 days of that first delivery. This applies whether or not you have received your book and film. Use Request a refund on your account page or email support@letradecasa.com. For gifts, the refund goes to the buyer. We never deduct fees.
- Refunds go back to your original payment method through Polar, usually within 5–10 business days. Please contact us before filing a chargeback.
- After a refund, your download links stop working, and we delete your photos and generated files within 7 days.
These promises are in addition to any rights you have under your local consumer law, including EU/UK withdrawal rights.
8. Storage and deletion
We delete your photos and generated files 30 days after delivery, or 12 months after delivery if you choose "Keep my book." After a refund, we delete them within 7 days. Please download your files and keep a copy. After deletion, we cannot recover them. You can ask us to delete or export your data at any time. See our Privacy Policy.
9. Ownership and use
Your recipes, notes and photos stay yours. Our website, software, book designs and templates, the background music and the narration voices belong to us or our licensors. We give you a permanent license to use, print, copy and share your delivered PDF and film for personal, family and non-profit community purposes (for example, copies for relatives or a church or school fundraiser). You may not resell our designs or templates as a product. We never use your content in our marketing unless you give us separate permission.
10. Disclaimers
We provide the service "as is." We do our best, but we cannot guarantee perfect transcriptions (which is why you review and approve them), a particular look for the video, or uninterrupted service.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the order involved. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of original materials (keep your original recipe cards and photos). Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited, such as liability for fraud, for gross negligence or willful misconduct, or for death or injury caused by negligence, or your rights under consumer-protection or privacy laws that cannot be waived. If you live in New Jersey, the limits in sections 3 (indemnity), 10 and 11 do not apply to the extent New Jersey law prohibits them, including under the New Jersey Truth-in-Consumer Contract, Warranty and Notice Act.
12. Suspension and termination
You can stop using the service at any time. We may suspend access if you breach these Terms. Sections 3, 6A (as to shared links), 9–11, 13 and 15A continue to apply afterward.
13. Governing law and disputes
Talk to us first. Before starting any claim, please email support@letradecasa.com and give us 30 days to try to fix it. Most problems can be solved with a fix or a refund.
Governing law and courts. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. The competent courts in Tel Aviv–Jaffa, Israel have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, except that either of us may bring an individual claim in a small-claims court in the county or district where you live, if the claim qualifies.
Your consumer rights. If you live in the United States or another country whose consumer-protection laws give you rights that a contract cannot take away, including the right to bring a claim in your local courts, nothing in this section takes those rights away.
14. Changes
We may update these Terms. Changes do not apply to orders already placed unless you agree to them.
15A. General
If any part of these Terms is unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a term right away, we can still enforce it later. We may transfer these Terms to a company that takes over Letra de Casa, and your rights stay the same. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between you and us about the service. Polar's Buyer Terms govern the payment itself. If they conflict with these Terms about the service, these Terms apply.
